My Best Advice to a peer:
- The best advice that I offered a peer would be when I was telling them about how they needed to slow down their speech and collect themselves before talking. The major thing I noticed when listening was how they were rushing and not taking time to take a breath or collect themselves. This made the speech sound rushed and chaotic so I offered to tell them to talk slower and pronounce their words more, this will allow them to sound more confident and bold when talking about it.
Why It’s my best advice:
- It is very good advice because when people listen to a person talk, they notice their body language and how confident they sound when talking. If you go up and begin to talk very fast and rush through your speech, it will come off as unconfident and nervous, this will have a negative outlook on you and your project. When you are able to slow down your speech and express each sentence, it comes off as confident and makes it seem you know what you’re talking about.
Best Advice from my peers:
- The best advice that a peer has offered me would be my body language and my constant fidgeting while talking. They explained to me how I kept moving my hands and rocking back and forth in my stance. They told me how this showed nervousness and that it made it seem like I was anxious being up there.
Why It’s their best advice:
- This advice helped me a lot when it came to giving my final speech, it made me think about my body language a lot and how it affects every aspect of my speech. If I don’t seem confident and still while talking, then my whole speech gets thrown off and ruined. This did not affect what was talked about as much as it affected how I delivered it. Encouragement helped a small amount, but the criticism helped more when it comes to fixing my speech.
Questions about Class:
The only thing that I was confused on for the project was the instructions of what was needed to be done and where it was supposed to be put. I was not reading the instructions carefully enough and did not realize where I was supposed to put the pieces of the project. I will more carefully read instructions and follow them closely so I do not miss any important information and so I don’t mess up the project.
Mini Essay
The steps I can take to stay up to date are fairly simple so I don’t miss any important information or mess up any of the instructions that are laid before me. I got off to a rocky start with the Lone Wolf Speech because I did not understand the instructions very well and I was confused on what was needed of me or where I was supposed to put certain information. Following the templates and creating a project exactly how the professor wants it is crucial if you want a good grade on the project and get a good grade in the class. Right when I obtain the project details and the rubric for grading, I plan on following it step by step and seeing what is needed of me to do for the project. I will determine the best course to go about creating the project to fit the rubric. I will then proceed to complete the project very slowly, completing one part at a time, and making sure that each part complies with the rubric fully before moving on to the next part of the project. As well as making sure each part is perfect before moving on, I will complete each part of the project at the set deadline dates with everything that is stated I need. I will also check in with other classmates who are doing the same project to see if they have any feedback on the project or if I can do anything differently to improve the project. I will also make sure they are keeping me in check when it comes to deadlines to make sure I don’t fall behind. If I still have questions on what is needed of me, or if I am confused on certain parts of the project, I can email or contact the professor to meet with me and go over the details of the project. This will be crucial to give me a proper understand on the project as a whole, this will benefit me greatly so I can stay up to date. Taking the proper precautions and steps when it comes to school projects or work is crucial if I want to obtain good grades. Doing these things will benefit me greatly in life and after I graduate as well.
Dry Dry Run
When I was young, I was always negative, negative towards others, towards my family and friends, negative towards my own thoughts and self. This destroyed my self-esteem and my personal image. These thoughts always put me in negative moods that would ruin my days. It wasn’t until one day I was tired of feeling this way and I wanted change. After hours of researching and learning, I determined what I needed to do in order to better myself as a person.
I’m going to be talking to you about valuable skills that I’ve gathered on how to become a better version of your personal self. It all starts with your ability to self-reflect. Take some time to reflect on how you’re feeling and try to understand your strengths and weaknesses, determine what your passions and aspirations are. Having self -awareness is the beginning of personal growth, this allows us to determine a meaningful and important course for improvement. After you are able to find your strengths and weaknesses in self-reflection, the next step is to begin goal setting. You’re going to want to set objectives that are not only clear but specific to what you want to achieve. These goals are going to provide you with direction and purpose, all channeling your efforts into self improvement.
Being able to manage your time is a very big part of bettering yourself. You need to prioritize tasks, and stay away from procrastination and wasting time. Time is our most valuable resource, it is a finite amount, how you use it determines how well your journey of personal growth is going to go. Developing a growth mindset that constantly wants to continue learning and gaining knowledge is a keystone to self improvement. Whether it’s trough starting a new hobby, learning a new valuable skill, starting a job, or doing fun actives that keep you moving, we stay learning and constantly wanting to find new things.
Self improvement is an interesting adventure that contains self-awareness, constant learning, goal setting and achieving, and building meaningful connections that could last forever. You need to embrace change and uncomfortability, while maintaining a positive outlook on it all. Everyone is always working on bettering themselves, you are not alone when it comes to wanting to be a better version of yourself.
After practicing these skills myself; learning my own personal strength and weaknesses, learning how to be self aware, prioritizing my tasks in ways that will benefit me and my life, and learning time management, I begun to see results that I didn’t know existed. My mood increased greatly, my desire to learn and improve also began to increase, and my determination to be a better version of myself every day of the week was the biggest part of my life.
Reflection After Dry Dry Run
After going over the speech and practicing it over, it is very bare but overall decent, adding in more factual evidence and step by step ways to practice being a better version of yourself is a great way to give the audience a defined and clear reason to pay attention. It allows them to note and remember specific things that they can take out and use in their every day lives. I’m going to keep these facts in the speech and use them as my main points and reasons when delivering my speech. I am going to add more personal stories in my next speech, in order to connect more with the audience, having personal stories works best. And also slowing down my speech so I sound more clear and less stumbling over my words.
Self reflection – add more stories with everything, mix both
add an ending paragraph that shows results of these with personal self

Dry Run Reflection
Overall, from both my own thoughts and my peers reviews, my overall speech is very good, the majority of the speech itself is well said and very descriptive when it comes to ideas and ways that can help improve yourself as a person. I did not get much feedback on how to improve my speech so that means that everyone thought it was very informative and descriptive. I don’t think I’m going to change much of my speech, maybe add in or remove a few filler words but overall it works great. I got most of my feedback on my body language and how I spoke to the audience. I need to learn how to hold my hands in an appropriate spot instead of constantly moving or fixing myself, as well as my body swaying or moving back and forth, I need to stay more in place or less anxious. And the devilry of my speech was subpar, I need to have more consistent talking and try to stop stopping every now and then to gather myself. A better flowing speech delivers my speech better. I need to be less anxious in general, going up I was very nervous to speak in front of people especially cause I don’t do it often, but overall I think it went very well.

Final Speech Reflection
I find the entire process of coming up with an outline, drafting dry runs and peer view a little excessive but overall much needed and important to creating a fine perfect speech. It is all important to hone in and determine the best way to approach the speech and deliver your message precisely and effectually. I may approach future projects with a more broad outlook and vision, this project I had one specific goal in mind with no really big picture to bring to the table. But I want to expand and touch on more important features outside of the speech itself. It will ultimately bring a better speech and bring everything together. Overall my speech was delivered more clear and precisely. My posture was a lot better and I did not sway much at all. My hands and arm movement were fixed with minimal fidgeting or moving around. And the speech was paced nicely with little break ups in between to look over the speech. I think the project was very informative and taught me a lot about public speaking.
