When highlighting and annotating my assigned reading, I like to keep my annotations similar and simple. I read over the text briefly and get a layout and sense of what the author is trying to say. Once I understand most of the text, I go through and find any important information that I may find useful later in my work. I only like to highlight important words and phrases, when highlighting the entire sentence I find it counteractive because it makes a mess of the page and work. Highlighting key points of the text allows me to get the message behind my annotation in a fast and efficient way. I then make small, simple notes in the crevasses between text. I find this the best way for me to retain information because it allows me to tie a note to a specific area of text, using sticky notes is not beneficial for me.

For my highlights of Turkle, I highlighted the lines of text that were most related to what I wanted to write my essay about, I focused on how technology and social media removes our conscious and sense of being away from everyone else and how it negatively affects our emotions. I did not write many notes in the blank areas because I did not need to, I highlighted all the info I needed and writing more was not worth my time.

I have fewer annotations for this article because the information was less beneficial towards my goals. My short notes allow me to see what each body paragraph is talking about and allows me to circle back and easily find information whenever I need it.
